Dan Youra and Michael Wells Mandeville are experienced practitioners in the arts of Public Relations and Web Activism. This dynamic duo has been forging new paths through for new communication technologies as soon as, and even before, the technologies enter the mass consciousness and spark the collective imagination. Lauded as "Pioneers in the Global Village," Youra and Mandeville were on the web before the web was launched. Dan Youra's graduate studies in the Behavioral Sciences Laboratory at The Ohio State University and Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio and in the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan sparked applications in the universal networking of social research and social activism. Michael Wells Mandeville's graduate studies at the University of Washington integrated the classroom studies in the social sciences with the street activism of social change, which erupted in the resistance to the Vietnam war.
In 1974, Michael Wells Mandeville wrote The Cybernetic Renaissance , which was published in a U.S. Bicentennial Commission Celebration publication. The essay developed the theme of “The Global Village” which Arthur C. Clarke had made famous for his discussion of how communication and computer technology was going to fundamentally change human civilization, bring all people into close proximity with electrons, and enable a liberated human imagination to recreate the world.
During the previous 18 years, Mandeville had focused on the development of a systems approach to understanding human interaction with solar and planetary dynamics, as these relationships shape the terrestrial environment and the history of humanity. He has used his long-running blog Earth Changes Bulletin to share many of his conclusions.
In 1986, Mandeville updated the essay to predict how the PC industry would develop. He predicted companies like Microsoft would flourish if they focused on integrating compatibility of their technology with the high technology products of other companies. Bill Gates read the essay and subsequently all his decisions with converting DOS into Windows was based on providing compatibility between all platforms. A huge rush by thousands of companies subsequently created the phenomenal developments of Silicon Valley and the Seattle Metroplex.
In 2004, authored and published in English The Coming Economic Collapse of 2006 from copy developed in the Earth Changes Bulletin. This book extrapolates economic trends predicated by Edgar Cayce for the period 2006-2008, critiques the fatal transformation of the U.S. Republic into an overt Empire, and compares the current economic and political climate with the period of the 1930's. The book was subsequently published in Italian during 2004 by Marco Edzioni.
